The staff serving in the extermination camps Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka
consisted of two groups: 1. German and Austrian SS- and policemen, 2. "Trawnikis": Men of German
extraction who lived in Ukrainia and Soviet Russia (Volksdeutsche) and others of
Ukrainian or Russian extraction. After the occupation of their
home they decided to "work" for the Germans and were trained in the SS training camp
Trawniki near Lublin.
